I had the great pleasure of attending one of Vincent Versace’s photography workshops hosted by the Madeline Island School of Arts this summer.
Vincent recognized the potential of digital photography and the power of software such as Photoshop® and Nik Plugins® very early in their development. He saw that the new technology would help photographers realize their artistic vision in the digital darkroom in even more creative ways than the great master film photographers did in the chemical darkroom. As a Nikon Ambassador, his experience and insight helped guide the development of both the hardware and software in the digital world. Fortunately for me and many other photographers who have attended his workshops over the years, he is an excellent instructor and happily shares his knowledge with others.
The Madeline Island School of Arts is consistently rated among the top handful of arts and craft schools in the country. Their unique location on one of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior makes taking courses there not only a great educational experience, but a great opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of the area in which it is located.
Here are some of the landscape photographs I took as part of the workshop. I hope I was able to capture at least a little of the beauty of the area.
